How to install Medusa Reducers
I was drinking several margaritas recently, and the topic of these little Medusa Reducers came up. It got us thinking that we should do a little post about them on our brand new Blog. For those who are unfamiliar, the Medusa Reducer is a minuscule black ring that inserts inside of Female caps that are available for male valved cans with 4mm stems. The purpose of the ring is to reduce the hole in the base of the cap to 3.2mm (or 1/8″) so that it fits your typical Rustoleum can of paint (Stops Rust, AA, PT, PT2X, etc). I know you are thinking that this seems like it could be a really big hassle, however, we have two really good “Valspar” caps that are worth the vaginoplasty operation to make the holes tighter. These reducers also work on the new Night Quill CapMan adapter, allowing those to be used with your fave Rusto goodies. See above for a re-post of the demo video we created a while back, and let us know if you have questions or feedback on these Reducers.
To recap:
Purchase a little bag of reducers, as well as our Valspar Thin or Valspar Fats. Turn the caps over and locate the opening in the base (where the valve stem inserts). Get a ball point pen or similar pointy but sturdy object and pick up a Medusa Reducer by passing the tip through the inner hole (similar to eating pasta elbows with a fork). Place the pen/reducer combo inside the hole at the base of the cap and push down until hearing or feeling a slight little pop. Turn the pen over and place the flat base against what’s left of the protruding ring (if any) and push the ring further into the hole until satisfied with the placement. You will now have a Valspar style cap that fits directly onto the more common sized 3.2mm valve stem.
